Helium 5G is officially here (HIP 27 and HIP 51) — making it the world’s second-largest wireless network supported by the Helium Blockchain, and the world’s first consumer-owned 5G network.
Helium 5G seeks to further decentralise wireless networks, by giving consumers the power to expand 5G networks in the US, and eventually across Europe and worldwide. Even well-established telco companies are struggling due to the many complexities and high costs involved with implementing, maintaining, and monitoring such infrastructure. Arguably, one of the biggest obstacles is the vast number of cell deployments that are required to facilitate 5G communication and data transfer in densely populated areas.
